The Hai and Dry changing robe was developed when cold water swimming became an essential part of daily activity in 2020. Having been swimming in the sea all summer, myself and a few friends decided to continue to swim for as long as we could bear the cold. We gleefully managed to continue throughout the year even when strong winds and snow on the beach didn’t deter us (always keeping our safety in mind).
I initially created a type of bib that held two hot water bottles that sat front and back of the body to slowly heat the core.
I then designed and made a selection of waterproof robes for myself and friends, and through listening to their feedback, I eventually developed the Hai and Dry robe.
As with all activities ,equipment is important. For us, this initially included changing on the beach whilst keeping our modesty intact and keeping warm. But none of these things helped us solve our heating problems. Initially we used a bib like system with hot water bottles to heat our bodies. We then devised outer zipped pockets to safely store the 2 x 500 ml bottles. These can be easily filled from a litre flask.
Kangaroo pockets also on the front allow the heat from the hot water bottles to gently heat your hands and core

The towelling changing robes are made from a luxurious 400 GSM cotton towelling. From experience we have allowed a generous 85cm garment width, so plenty of room for easy changing
